How many words can typically be translated per day?

A translator can normally translate 1,600-2,000 words per day, depending on the nature of the text. If you are in a hurry, we can of course expedite production by having multiple translators work on a single assignment. A single editor would then check the texts for consistency. If so desired, we can also work evenings and weekends to make sure your translation is finished in time.

How do I submit my texts?

We prefer to receive your texts electronically in Word, Excel, PDF or PowerPoint. For a sworn translation, you can send the original documents by regular mail. We return the translation by e-mail or, if applicable, regular mail or courier.

Who do I contact if I want to use your translation or interpreting services?

WTS employs a team of project coordinators to ensure that everything runs smoothly. The project coordinator receives and processes your order, monitors the translation or interpreting process and delivers the finished project.

What is a sworn translation and when do I need one?

Translations of official documents, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, diplomas, statutes and contracts, must often be certified for accuracy in the form of a sworn translation. If an official institution requires this, the customary procedure is to have it drawn up by a sworn translator, who has sworn before a court of law that their translations will be completely accurate. The translator attaches a statement with their signature and seal to the translation. In the Netherlands, all sworn translators are registered with the RBTV, the official register of sworn translators and interpreters.

How can I be certain that my documents will be kept confidential?

All of our employees and freelancers – translators, interpreters, correctors, editors and project coordinators – are bound by a strict confidentiality agreement. This means that all your information will be treated in the strictest confidence. After an order has been finished and delivered, we keep the documents in our files for safekeeping for a set period of time, before having them collected and destroyed by a specialised company.

Can WTS help me check my texts for spelling and grammar?

WTS provides more than just translation and interpreting services: we also edit texts and offer written communication services at any desired level. In addition to countless expert translators, we have an extensive portfolio of copywriters (e.g., technical writers for manuals and the like), who are intimately familiar with many professional fields and have a perfect command of their language. You can also send us texts in any language to be checked for correct spelling, grammar and structure. We can even write you a completely new text, in consultation with you and according to your instructions.

Does WTS use translation software?

WTS uses both Trados and Déjà Vu. These are advanced translation programs for recording your company’s preferred terminology and specific jargon. The use of these programs allows us to deliver highly consistent translations.
