NOTABLE PROJECTS

A selection of some of our more notable projects:

• A large IT project, comprising 80,000 words, was translated into eight languages within three weeks. Various translators were used for each language, with a single final target-text editor in each case.
• A presentation given in Dutch was transcribed from the DVD and then translated into English. The client used this translation to give the presentation in English, accompanied by the PowerPoint slides we had also translated.
• One of our French-into-English interpreters travelled along with a client to Casablanca and worked there for a full week, translating the instructions for a new training method and facilitating communication between the French-Arabian employees and their British CEO.
• For reasons of confidentiality, an English translator spent two days onsite at a client’s office translating an extremely important invitation to tender with highly technical subject matter.
• Safety instructions were translated into 18 different languages and we also performed the DTP tasks for all those languages. The translation and DTP work was done in very close collaboration.
• A group of translators and correctors spent a full weekend at the WTS office to translate the documents for a merger between two multinationals. The merger was announced to the press on Monday morning.
• Due to the confidential nature of a particular client’s annual accounts, a team of translators and correctors spent a week at the client’s office performing the translation.
• An English report of more than 50,000 words was corrected in a matter of days before being published. The same report was then translated into French.
• In the 1980s, a team of translators, correctors and editors spent two months at a motel in California (USA) as part of the preparations for a global telecommunications project.
• WTS translated Gorbachev’s book about his coup within 24 hours.

All of the employees and freelancers at WTS Vertalingen BV are bound by strict confidentiality agreements dictating that ‘mum’s the word’ in any language. That is why the above projects must remain anonymous.
